Automatic Doors
Convenient, accessible, and energy-efficient automatic door systems for commercial, retail, and public buildings.
Professional Automatic Door Solutions
Automatic doors enhance the accessibility, convenience, and energy efficiency of any building. They provide hands-free entry for all visitors, including those with disabilities, pushchairs, or heavy goods, while helping to maintain internal climate control by minimising the time the entrance is open.
HS Contracting Services Ltd supplies, installs, and maintains a comprehensive range of automatic door systems for retail stores, offices, hospitals, hotels, leisure centres, and public buildings throughout Surrey and the South East. All installations comply with BS 7036 and the relevant provisions of the Equality Act 2010.
Our Automatic Door Solutions
Sliding Doors
Automatic sliding doors are the most widely used type of automatic entrance, offering a sleek, space-efficient solution for high-traffic buildings. The doors open horizontally when triggered by a sensor and close automatically after a set dwell time. We supply single-slide, bi-parting, and telescopic configurations to suit openings of varying widths. Sliding doors are available in aluminium-framed and frameless glass designs to complement any building facade.
Swing Doors
Automatic swing door operators convert existing manual doors into fully automatic entrances, or can be specified as part of a new door set. Swing operators are particularly well suited to internal corridors, washrooms, and secondary entrances where a sliding door is not practical. Both single and double swing configurations are available, with options for push-button activation, motion sensors, or proximity card readers.
Revolving Doors
Revolving doors provide an effective airlock, significantly reducing heat loss and draughts at busy entrances while maintaining a continuous flow of pedestrian traffic. We install two-wing, three-wing, and four-wing revolving doors in manual and automatic variants. Automatic revolving doors include speed control, presence detection, and emergency breakout functionality for safe evacuation.
Disabled Access and DDA Compliance
Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that disabled people can access their premises. Automatic doors are one of the most effective measures for removing physical barriers at building entrances. We ensure that every installation meets the guidance set out in BS 8300 and Approved Document M, including appropriate clear opening widths, activation methods, and safety features.
Our DDA-compliant solutions include low-energy swing operators, push-pad and push-button activators, tactile and visual indicators, and hold-open devices linked to the fire alarm system.
Sensors and Activation
The performance and safety of an automatic door depends on the correct selection and positioning of activation and safety sensors. We install a range of sensor types including microwave presence detectors, infrared motion sensors, safety light curtains, and pressure mats. Active and passive safety sensors prevent the door from closing on a person and are essential for compliance with BS 7036.
Safety Systems
All of our automatic door installations incorporate the safety measures required by BS 7036 and BS EN 16005. This includes protection against entrapment, impact, and shearing risks. We carry out a full risk assessment for every installation and provide detailed documentation including operating instructions, maintenance schedules, and safety signage recommendations.
Maintenance and Servicing
Automatic doors are used intensively and require regular servicing to ensure safe, reliable operation and continued compliance with safety standards. We offer planned preventative maintenance contracts that include mechanical and electrical inspection, sensor calibration, speed and force adjustment, lubrication, and a comprehensive safety check. All service visits are documented and a detailed report is provided.
